Love Like Jesus. Serve Like Jesus.

Serve Day is an opportunity for our church to step beyond the walls of our building on a Sunday and demonstrate the love of Jesus through practical acts of service.

Inspired by the example of Christ, who came not to be served but to serve, we want to continue to be known as a church that actively loves and serves our community. Through simple acts of kindness, generosity and practical support, we have the opportunity to build relationships, meet real needs, and reflect the heart of God to those around us.

Serve Day is not intended to be a one-off event. Rather, it is a catalyst that helps us continue to cultivate a lifestyle of service throughout the year. Our hope is that as people experience the joy of serving, they will continue looking for opportunities to love their neighbours and make a difference in their everyday lives.

Why Serve Day?

We Follow the Example of Jesus

Jesus consistently demonstrated compassion through action. He served, healed, encouraged, and met people's needs. As His followers, we are called to do the same.

We Love Our Community

Serve Day provides a tangible way to bless our local community. It allows us to support schools, community organisations, local initiatives, and individuals who may need practical assistance.

We Create Opportunities for Connection

Acts of service often open doors for meaningful conversations and relationships. While our goal is not simply to complete projects, we hope to demonstrate God's love in ways that create opportunities for ongoing connection.

We Grow as Disciples

Serving stretches us beyond ourselves and helps us grow in humility, generosity, compassion, and faith. It provides practical opportunities for people of all ages and stages to live out their faith together.

We Unite as a Church

Serve Day brings our church family together around a shared mission. It reminds us that every person can contribute and that together we can make a greater impact than any one individual can alone.

How Serve Day Works

On Sunday July 12th (Matariki Weekend), we'll gather together for our 9am service as usual to worship, hear God's Word, and be commissioned to serve our community.

After the service, stick around for a slice to eat and a cuppa before connecting with your Serve Day team. At approximately 10.45am, each team will head out to their selected Serve Day project, putting God's love into action through practical acts of service across our community.

At 12.30pm, we'll return to Windsor for a light lunch, connection and an opportunity to share stories and celebrate what God has done through the morning.

Please note that there will be no 10.45am service on this Sunday. If you normally attend at 10.45am, we'd love for you to join us at 9am and then take part in Serve Day with the rest of our church family.

There are six different serving opportunities and projects available, with something for individuals, families, Life Groups, and all ages. Take a look at the options below, find a project that suits you, and register using the form below. We'll be in touch with further details closer to the day.

Together, let's step beyond the walls and make a difference in our community.

"The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it." — Genesis 2:15

Help restore the Unsworth Reserve by planting native trees and shrubs alongside others from our church community. Together we'll be contributing to a larger restoration project that will see over 1,500 native plants established across the area.

No experience is necessary. The Windsor Earth Team and site leaders will provide guidance and training on the day, and all planting equipment will be supplied. Depending on numbers, there may also be opportunities to help with weeding and streamside restoration work.

We're also looking for people to serve in First Aid and Administration roles. If you have skills in either of these areas and a heart for caring for creation, we'd love to have you on the team and put your gifts to good use!

Please wear sturdy closed-toe shoes and clothing suitable for outdoor work and the weather conditions. Bring a water bottle, and don't forget a hat and sunscreen.

Parking is available at the Sports Field and along Caribbean Drive. Toilets are located near the car park. All volunteers will be asked to complete a brief site sign-in and health and safety induction on arrival.

Come along, get your hands dirty, and make a lasting difference in our local environment.

"Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters." — Colossians 3:23

Our church building is more than just a place we gather on Sundays—it's a space where people encounter God, build community and find belonging. Join us as we care for our home base by giving it some much-needed TLC.

Together we'll tackle a range of practical tasks including cleaning windows, walls and skirting boards, deep cleaning areas that need extra attention, and tidying outdoor spaces around the building and carpark. Every task, big or small, helps create a welcoming environment for our church family and the wider community who use our facilities throughout the week.

No special skills are required—just a willingness to pitch in and help. Cleaning supplies and equipment will be provided, and team leaders will be on hand to direct tasks and support volunteers.

Please wear comfortable clothing that you don't mind getting a little dirty and closed-toe shoes suitable for cleaning and outdoor work.

Whether you're a cleaning enthusiast or simply keen to lend a hand, this is a great opportunity to serve behind the scenes and make a meaningful contribution to the life of our church.

Come along and help us care for the place we call home.

"Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth." — 1 John 3:18

Sometimes the sweetest way to show God's love is through a homemade treat. Join us as we partner with Sunday Blessings Auckland to bake delicious desserts that will be shared with people and families experiencing hardship in our city.

Food has a unique way of bringing comfort, dignity and connection. Through this project, we'll be creating baked goods that will be distributed later that evening through Sunday Blessings' weekly outreach, helping to bless members of Auckland's unhoused and vulnerable communities.

No baking experience is required—just a willingness to serve, a desire to make a difference, and the ability to follow a recipe. Whether you're a confident baker or simply keen to lend a hand, there's a place for you.

Since 2018, Sunday Blessings Auckland has coordinated more than 200,000 meals for people in need through food rescue, community donations, and the generosity of volunteers. Their mission is to reduce food poverty and food waste while ensuring no rough sleeper in Auckland CBD goes hungry on a Sunday night.

All ingredients and equipment will be provided. Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for kitchen work and closed-toe shoes.

Come along and help create something special that will bring a little joy, encouragement, and care to someone who needs it.

"Therefore encourage one another and build each other up." — 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Not every act of service requires getting your hands dirty. Sometimes a kind word, a thoughtful gift, or a simple reminder that someone is loved can make all the difference.

Join us on-site at Windsor as we create care packs, write encouraging cards, and draw pictures that will be shared with people in our community who could use a little extra hope and kindness. Together, we'll create tangible expressions of God's love that remind others they are seen, valued, and cared for.

This project is suitable for all ages and is a great option for families, children, seniors, and anyone who enjoys creative or relational ways of serving.

We'll provide all the materials and supplies needed—you simply need to bring a willing heart, a spirit of encouragement, and a desire to share the hope and goodness of God with others.

Whether you're writing a heartfelt note, colouring a picture, or helping assemble care packs, every contribution will help bring joy and encouragement to someone in our community.

Come along and help spread hope, one act of kindness at a time.

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." — Galatians 6:9

Our local schools play a vital role in shaping and supporting young people in our community. This Serve Day, we have the opportunity to come alongside one of our valued 24-7 YouthWork partner schools—Murrays Bay Intermediate—and lend a helping hand where it's needed.

The specific projects are still being confirmed, but volunteers can expect to assist with practical tasks identified by the school. Whether it's tidying outdoor spaces, helping with maintenance projects, or supporting other school needs, our goal is simple: to bless our schools and show our appreciation for the staff, students, and wider school communities.

No special skills are required—just a willingness to serve and a positive attitude. Further details about the project and meeting location will be provided closer to the day.

Participants will need to arrange their own transport to and from the school. Please wear comfortable clothing suitable for practical work and the weather conditions.

This is a great opportunity to strengthen our connection with our local school, support the incredible work they do, and make a tangible difference in our community.

Come and help us invest in the places that invest in the next generation.

"Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." — Matthew 5:16

In a world that is more connected than ever through technology, many people are experiencing increasing loneliness and isolation. Sometimes the most powerful way to show God's love is simply by being present, offering kindness, and taking the time to connect.

This Serve Day, we'll be heading to Mairangi Bay Beach (weather permitting) to bless our community through free coffees or a sausage sizzle (which is to be confirmed), creating opportunities for conversation, connection, and encouragement.

More than simply handing out food and drinks, this project is about helping people feel seen, valued, and cared for. As opportunities arise, we'll also be available to share the hope we have in Jesus through natural and meaningful faith conversations.

Whether you'd prefer to welcome people with a smile and a free treat or feel called to engage in deeper conversations about faith, there is a place for you on the team. Guidance and support will be provided, so no prior experience is necessary.

Come along and help build relationships, share hope, and remind our community that they are known, loved, and never alone.
